Damn Small Linux 4.4.10 - GRUB4DOS problem

Hi,

Could anybody help me booting ( Damn Small Linux 4.4.10  ) from a USB flash drive with GRUB4DOS , please ?

I have tried this, but no luck :


title DSL 4.4.10 initrd
find --set-root /dsl4410initrd.iso
map --mem /dsl4410initrd.iso (hd32)
map --hook
root (hd32)
chainloader (hd32)

also ----------------------------------------

title DSL 4.4.10 initrd
find --set-root /images/dsl-4.4.10-initrd.iso
map --mem /images/dsl-4.4.10-initrd.iso (hd32)
map --hook
root (hd32)
kernel /boot/kernels/dsl-linux24 ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 toramnomce noapic quiet knoppix_dir=/boot/images knoppix_name=dsl modprobe echi-hcd
initrd /boot/images/dsl-minirt24.gz

Try pulling out all things from the iso to filesystem. This method works for me.

title Damn Small Linux 4
kernel /linux24 quiet vga=791 frugal
initrd /minirt24.gz
boot

应该是解开ISO,G4Dmap出来的仿真驱动器能工作在保护模式吗？

initrd /dsl/boot/isolinux/minirt24.gz

I am seeing an error which says :


" Kernel panic: VFS:unable to mount root fs on 03:02 "


Any ideas?

Maybe the location is too deep for DSL.
Try putting them (kernel, initrd, KNOPPIX directory) to root of file system (/ of your media[CD-ROM/HDD/thumb drive]).

With all due respect ,same error happens and my notebook hangs, my friend !?!

I think DSL4.4.10 has a tricky thing inside it or a bug with GRUB4DOS,don't you agree ?
  
And on the other side ,deepness has nothing to do with it.

With all due respect ,same er ...

Last trial, burn that iso to a CD and boot from it.
If it still kernel panics, that means DSL cannot work on your your notebook, and nothing wrong with Grub4DOS.
(even if /KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX is not found, you should at least have a limited shell)

Hi,

I have tried it on a CD and my "Damn Toshiba Notebook" hangs at the point when DSL says:

Autoconfiguring devices ...../


Never mind. I'm giving up,besides it's not worth it at all .


SliTaz 3.0 works fine with me and it is better than DSL .

grub4dos 为了硬件的兼容性做出了很大的努力，也可以说，很不容易才达到了像今天这样好的兼容性。

然而，DSL 却在软件的层面出现问题，我觉得这是很可惜的。相比之下，SliTaz 的兼容性竟然如此之良好，以至于它不仅兼容了硬件，而且也完美地兼容（或者支持）了 grub4dos 的 ISO 仿真功能。当今 Linux 百花齐放，有数百种 Linux 在发展，这给我们一个广阔的测试空间，我们可以从中选择出适合自己使用的 Linux 来。衷心地感谢 Linux 的开发者和发行者们。
